GRAMERCY KITCHEN

Seoul – South Korea
Completed: 2006
General Contractor: Kesson International – Seoul – South Korea

Built on the ground floor of a skyscraper in downtown Seoul, the project for this restaurant
provided for a complete redesign of a double-height space with an area of approx. 530 sq.mt.
A high wall paneled with wooden slats, placed diagonally to the regular pattern of
the planimetry, divides and articulates the spaces, supporting the staircase leading to upper level as well.
The scarcity of windows and the resulting need for artificial lighting has prompted
the realization of a high curtains backlight system that covers an entire wall.
A computer adjusts the different colors of the lamps, creating striking stage effects
in the room.
Finally, a great work of the artist Arthur Duff confers a peculiar identity to the whole area.
