Built on the roof of the historic Shinsegae Main Department Store in downtown Seoul, this new volume, open to the public, houses spaces for exhibitions and a restaurant, while an important collection of sculptures is located outside. The extension, not visible from the street, but only from the other surrounding buildings, is entirely covered with a copper “skin”, composed of micro-perforated sheets on design and backlit which transform it, in the evening hours, into a sort of large lantern. Large windows open onto the outdoor space, articulated on different levels where the sculptures are located. An ideal path, delimited by narrow channels and stretches of water, guides the visitor on a journey of knowledge of the works of Moore, Calder, Mirò, Oldenburg and Louise Bourgeois.
