Sushi Cho
Seoul – South Korea
Completed: 2009
Client: Kesson International – Seoul – South Korea
The Japanese restaurant “Sushi Cho” is located on the 20th floor of the “Westin Chosun Hotel” in the center of Seoul. The project involved the complete renovation of an area of approximately 600 square meters, allocating it to the new restaurant which enjoys panoramic views of the city. The rectangular shape and dimensions of the “tatami”, the traditional Japanese mat, have become the regulating and defining element of the space. The design of the floors, with the use of different materials (wood, stone) and that of the false ceilings, cut by “luminous grooves” with indirect light, visually reinforce this concept. The choice of materials and the rigorous design of all the furnishings propose, in a contemporary interpretation, the essential and harmonious atmosphere of historic Japanese residences.
