Gym in Merate

The project for the new gymnasium at the Manzoni School in Merate, fits into an already urbanized context and adopts a prefabricated construction method to keep costs low. Despite its rigorous forms, the building features a long window overlooking the courtyard, protected by a projecting canopy, that diffuses natural light inside. Much of the concrete facade will be covered with evergreen climbing or trailing plants from the roof, visually “softening” the volumetric impact and lending the building a more “natural” appearance.
