I-Park Hyundai Model House
Seoul – South Korea
Completed: 2009
Client: Hyundai Development Company – Seoul – South Korea
This type of building, very common in South Korea, is part of a careful commercial and customer service strategy adopted by large companies building extensive residential complexes. The building, temporary in nature and built near construction sites, becomes an element of commercial communication and simultaneously a place for meeting and cultural entertainment for potential apartment buyers. A total surface area of approximately 2,800 square meters developed on two levels houses a covered parking lot, operational and commercial information spaces on the lower floor, but also a small amphitheater and a café for social gatherings. On the upper floor, accessible by a wide staircase, three different types of residential units are built, finished in all their details and open to customers for visits. The prefabricated-type structure is equipped with an envelope that must convey a strong recognizability of the “brand” and itself become a communication element. To create an image of greater lightness, a “second skin” made of backlit expanded metal panels was also provided which, in the evening hours, transforms the building into a large “lantern”.
