Provincial Library in Campobasso

The competition required the expansion of a civic space intended for cultural activities to be used as a library, conference room, and accessory spaces. The project identified a new separate volume located on the existing void of the parking lot, safeguarding the green area with valuable trees which becomes the “internal garden” of a larger building complex. The compositional unity of the envelope and the identity of the building is given by the creation of a “structural framework” that incorporates the existing building and the one in the project, ideally proposing the image of a “bookcase”, where the “books” become a sunshade system, partly adjustable.
