TRINITY SCULPTURE GARDEN

Seoul – South Korea
Completed: 2007
Green Design: Arch. Giulia Torregrossa – Lecco – Italy
General Contractor: Kesson International – Seoul – South Korea

Built on the rooftop of Shinsegae Main Department Store in downtown Seoul, this space hosts exhibition areas and a restaurant as well as a large outdoor sculpture collection.
Not visible from the street but from the surrounding buildings only, this addition is entirely covered by a copper ‘skin’ formed by custom-designed, micro-perforated, backlit panels that turn it into a sort of big lantern at night. Large windows open on the outdoor area, structured on several levels, featuring worldwide famous artists’ sculptures.
Ideal paths, delimited by narrow streams and ponds, guide the visitor in exploration of Moore, Calder, Mirò, Oldenburg and Louise Bourgeois works of art.
